SN76477N (Wide Body Sound Chip)

Description

SN76477N (wide body 0.6 row spacing sound chip), complex sound generator and is a sound chip produced by Texas Instruments, DIP-28 Package.  These are NOS chips.  The chip is typically used as a sound effects generator in arcade / pinball games, toys and for hobby projects. The use of the SN76477N in a musical context is limited by the fact that it was difficult to electronically control the pitch of the produced sound.  This sound chip was used on many arcade games like Midway, Space Invaders (If the UFO Sound is missing or bad it could be this chip at location H2.), Stratovox, Vanguard, Sheriff/Bandido, Gakken EX-System synthesizer, Axesynth, ABC 80 and many others.
