This MC3417L is a speech chip used on the Williams System 11 Pinball sound boards and it may replace the original Motorola HC-55536, HC-55564 (HC55536, HC55564) and MC3417 chips BUT make sure to check your applications for confirmation if this MC3417L will replace any of them. NOTE: The information below was gathered from the forums online so we weren’t able to verify the data so please let us know that it’s accurate. The pinouts for the MC3417L (16 pin package) is the same as the 14 pin versions (MC3417, HC55536 & HC55564) so you can hang pins 8 and 9 out of the socket as pins 8 & 9 are not needed and don’t need to be tied high or low because of the NC (Not connected) designation in the data sheet.
